The building right in front of my house in Bur Dubai is maybe about 25 years old and it has been abandoned for about four or five years. All the tenants have vacated the building and only two shops are lit up and operating there. It’s located right behind a new souq being built in the area.
I can see inside the building from my house and I can tell that everything is completely broken and damaged. It poses many dangers in the area, seeing as it is so old. In fact, last year when it rained, concrete parts of the buildings started to fall apart and onto the sidewalk below. There are also beams along the side of the building, which also started to break and collapse after the rain.
I also see many people using the building at night and coming out the next day. I’m not sure what they’re doing and it seems to have no electricity or running water there.
The authorities need to take action and demolish this abandoned building so that it does not become a danger to people in the area.
